A Spirit of Giving: TCF Netherlands Hosts Community Iftar in The Hague
How a Ramadan Iftar in The Hague reminded us what generosity really means
The Hague, Netherlands
Somewhere in Pakistan, a child is waiting for a classroom.
On a quiet evening in The Hague, dozens of people came together: not to talk about her, but to act. They didn’t know her name. They may never meet her. And yet, they showed up, because the most meaningful kind of generosity is the kind that doesn’t ask for anything in return.
This is the story of one such evening.
An Evening Rooted in Purpose
Ramadan is a time of reflection, generosity, and community, and this spirit was clearly present at TCF Netherlands’ recent Ramadan Iftar fundraising event. The evening brought together members of the local community, volunteers, and supporters, all united by a shared purpose: creating access to quality education for underprivileged children in Pakistan.
More than just a gathering to break fast, the Iftar served as a space to reconnect with the deeper meaning of giving during Ramadan. Attendees were introduced to TCF’s work, its impact, and the urgent need to support children who remain out of school due to poverty and lack of access.
Through meaningful conversations and shared moments, the event demonstrated how collective action (regardless of scale) can transform lives through education.
Community-Led Impact
What made the evening particularly powerful was the role played by our dedicated volunteers. Led by Shehzadi Shamsi Baig, Hina, Aqsa Majid, and other committed members of our Netherlands chapter, the team’s efforts in organising the evening, mobilising their networks, and engaging the community demonstrated the strength of grassroots fundraising and the importance of local ownership in driving sustainable impact.
The generosity shown during the Iftar directly contributes to supporting TCF schools, enabling children to learn, grow, and build towards a brighter future.
Gratitude and the Road Ahead
We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended, contributed, and supported this initiative. Your presence and generosity reaffirm that when communities come together with purpose, meaningful change is possible.
As TCF continues to grow its presence in Europe, events like these play a vital role in building awareness, strengthening partnerships, and ensuring that education reaches those who need it most. Together, we are not just sharing a meal — we are investing in futures.
